Real Questions From Colorado Springs Drivers

Is Window Tint Right for Your Vehicle?

The right film depends on how you use the vehicle, how much heat and glare bother you, and the shade and look you're going for.

3M automotive window film product
I commute on I-25 every day and my truck bakes in the sun. What actually helps?

Infrared heat is the bigger problem than visible light. Crystalline or Ceramic IR reject up to 99% and 95% of infrared heat respectively, which does more for cabin temperature than simply going darker.

My SUV already has factory privacy glass in the back. Do I still need tint?

Factory privacy glass is just dark-pigmented glass — it doesn't reject heat or UV. Applying 3M film over it adds real protection without changing how dark the windows look from outside.

Will tint interfere with my dash cameras, GPS, or phone signal?

Color Stable, Crystalline, and Ceramic IR are all non-metallized, so they won't interfere with GPS, radio, or mobile signal, including 5G. FX-HP uses a metalized construction, which can occasionally affect GPS, radio, or toll-transponder signal — we'll walk you through that tradeoff if you're considering it.

How dark can I go on my rear windows?

As dark as you want — we offer the full range of shades, including a limo-dark option for maximum privacy on rear windows and back doors. Tell us the look you're after and we'll match you to the right shade.

How do I know which of the three series is right for me?

Send your vehicle year, make, and model and tell us what bothers you most — heat, glare, privacy, or fading interior trim. We'll match that to Color Stable, Crystalline, or Ceramic IR before you book.

Common Window Tint Questions

How long does window tint installation take?

Most vehicles are same-day. Computer-cut film on decontaminated glass keeps the install fast without cutting corners on fit, and you'll get an estimated timeframe when you book.

Which film should I pick if I'm not sure?

3M Color Stable is the most common middle-ground choice — no signal interference, fade-resistant color, and solid heat rejection at a moderate price. Crystalline is the upgrade if heat rejection matters most and you want to avoid a darker tint.

Will any of these films affect my GPS or toll transponder?

Only FX-HP is metalized and can occasionally affect GPS, radio, or toll-transponder signal. Color Stable, Ceramic IR, and Crystalline are all non-metallized with no signal interference.

Real Colorado Springs Scenarios

Built for how you actually drive here.

Colorado Springs sits at over 6,000 feet, where UV exposure runs roughly 36% higher than at sea level. Tint isn't just style here — it protects the interior and keeps the cabin livable.

Daily Commuter on I-25

Parked outside all day at work, then straight into rush-hour sun. Crystalline or Ceramic IR cuts cabin heat before you even start the A/C.

Family SUV, No Dark Glass

Want privacy for the kids without a heavy, over-dark look. 35% Color Stable keeps things balanced front to rear while still cutting glare and heat.

Work Truck, Fleet Vehicle

Interior fading and dash cracking from years of sun exposure. Any of our 3M series blocks the UV that causes it, at a price that scales to fleet volume.

Ceramic Coatings · Paint Protection Film

Already booking tint? Protect the rest of the finish.

Ceramic Coatings and Paint Protection Film pair naturally with a tint appointment — same Cooper Avenue studio, same visit if you want to bundle it.

Ceramic Coating water beading on vehicle paint

Ceramic Coatings

Gtechniq Ceramic Coating packages for deep gloss, easier washing, UV support, water beading, and long-term paint protection. Paint correction is included.

Our Process

Three steps. No shortcuts on the glass.

The finish depends on what happens before the film ever touches the window.

01

Decontaminate the Glass

Every window is cleaned and de-specked before installation so contamination doesn't get sealed under the film.

02

Precision Cut

Film is cut to the exact pattern for your vehicle's glass for an edge-to-edge fit, with no blade near the window itself.

03

Controlled Install & Inspection

Film is applied in a controlled, dust-managed environment, then inspected for bubbles, lifted edges, and fit before you leave.

3M Brand Recognition

The technology behind every 3M film.

Each 3M series is built differently to solve a different problem — fade resistance, IR heat, or maximum clarity with maximum rejection.

FX

FX-HP Series

Dyed and metalized construction built for strong performance at our most affordable price point — up to 65% solar energy rejection.

CS

Color Stable Series

IR-rejecting ceramic nano-technology paired with patented dye technology for fade-resistant color that holds up over time.

CIR

Ceramic IR Series

Nano-ceramic particles reject up to 95% of infrared heat, backed by a 3M warranty for as long as you own the vehicle.

CRY

Crystalline Series

200+ layer multilayer optical film rejects heat without darkening the glass — the clearest option in the lineup.

TSER

Total Solar Energy Rejection

The percentage of total solar energy blocked by the filmed glass — the higher the number, the less heat transmits into the cabin.

VLT

Visible Light Transmission

The percentage of visible light passing through the glass — the lower the number, the darker the tint looks.

A Question We Get Constantly

Carbon vs Ceramic — what's the real difference?

Both block UV. Only one actually stops the heat. Here's what separates them, based on independent film testing, not marketing copy.

Carbon Film

Infrared heat rejected~40–60%
UV rays blockedUp to 99%
Signal interferenceNone (non-metallized)
Color stability over timeFades faster
Typical costLower

Ceramic Film — what ST6 installs

Infrared heat rejectedUp to 95–99%
UV rays blockedUp to 99%
Signal interferenceNone (non-metallized)
Color stability over timeHolds color, resists fading
Typical costHigher upfront, holds performance longer

Where people get confused: UV protection is roughly a wash. Both carbon and genuine ceramic film block up to 99% of UV rays — the real differences show up in heat rejection and clarity.

The Heat Gap

Infrared heat is what you actually feel on your skin and what bakes a parked cabin. Carbon rejects less than half of it; ceramic rejects nearly all of it.

The Clarity Gap

Genuine ceramic film (3M's Crystalline and Ceramic IR series) stays optically clear with no gray or purple cast, while lower-grade carbon can look duller at the same shade.

On a Budget?

FX-HP gives you a genuinely affordable option that still blocks up to 99% of UV, just without the same ceramic-level infrared rejection.

Before You Book

Window Tint Questions

Clear answers on shade options, cure time, and what to expect after installation.

What's the darkest tint you offer?

We offer the full range, down to 5% limo-dark, for maximum privacy. Tell us the look you're going for and we'll match you to the right shade for every window.

How long before I can roll my windows down?

We recommend waiting 3 to 5 days after installation so the adhesive fully cures and bonds to the glass. This matters more in Colorado's climate, where rolling down too early can shift or lift the film.

Why does new tint look hazy or have small bubbles?

That's a normal part of curing, sometimes called hazing. Small moisture pockets from the mounting solution are expected and typically clear within 1–2 weeks as the film cures. Colorado's higher UV exposure actually helps speed that process up.

Is 3M film covered by a warranty?

Yes. 3M's automotive window films are backed by 3M against fading, peeling, bubbling, and delamination for the length of your ownership — ask us for the specific coverage terms for the series you choose.

Can tint be applied over factory privacy glass?

Yes. Factory privacy glass is just dark-pigmented glass with no heat rejection built in. We can apply 3M film over it to add real UV and heat protection at whatever shade you want.

Secure Your Investment

Every vehicle has a story. Tell us yours, and we'll recommend the 3M film that fits how you actually drive it.
